Junior High School (JHS)

 Ghana JHS Form 1, 2 & 3
Junior high education constitutes of three years of basic education (Age 10-14). It is the transitional period from basic to secondary education. It provides opportunity for pupils to discover their interests, abilities, aptitudes and other potentials.
Building on the objectives set for primary schools, junior high education also enables students to acquire fundamental scientific and technical knowledge and skills.
This allows them to: reinforce the knowledge and skills gained in primary school; identify their aptitudes and potentials; develop a desire for self-improvement; appreciate the use of both hand and mind; understand the environment and the importance of its sustainability, fostering a willingness to contribute to its preservation; cultivate a commitment to lifelong learning; and prepare effectively for further academic study and the acquisition of technical or vocational skills at the secondary level.
Senior High School (SHS)

SHS Form 1, 2 & 3
Senior high school (SHS) is the upper secondary level of education (for ages 15 to 18) and includes regular high school classes, technical training, and vocational education in areas such as business and agriculture. SHS prepares students for university entry. Students are required to take four mandatory core subjects and three to four elective subjects over a compulsory three-year program. At the end of the three years of SHS, students sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The WASSCE covers 32 subjects, and students from each of the West African countries; Ghana, Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia; are assessed in seven to eight subjects during their final year by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). At NHE, we offer 15 subjects that are mandatory for all five countries, along with four optional or elective subjects that are specific to a particular country.
